Just as Prakash and Mandakini took over the work at Hemalkasa, Vikas and his wife Dr. Bharati Amte, have over the last 20 years, become the main driving force behind Anandwan. As the activities have expanded at an explosive rate, Vikas has increasingly brought to bear a professional, modern touch to the functioning of the institution. His innate creativity has found expression in nuemrous innovations with technological options, always guided by the principles of environmental conservation. He is administrator, doctor, architect engineer, public relations officer all rolled into one. Bharati is trained as a paediatrician and leprosy specialist. She organises community health programmes in the nearby villages, looks after the leprosy patients and children at Anadwan and also conducts yoga classes.
