EXPERIMENTS WITH ECO-FRIENDLY TECHNOLOGIES
A number of experiments pioneered by Dr. Vikas Amte are being carried out at Anandwan to promote technologies that enhance the quality of the natural environment and lead to the empowerment of the local people. It is a remarkable fact that all the buildings at Anandwan and the other centres of the Maharogi Sewa Samiti has been accomplished without any direct involvement of engineers, architects or contractors.
A thrust area involves discouraging the use of plastics, on the one hand, and finding suitable ways of disposing plastic, on the other.
Regular campaigns are carried out to discourage use of plastic and to collect all waste plastic so that it can be recycled.
Plastic wrappers and packets are first cleaned and shredded. These shreds are then utilised in the making of stabilised mud bricks.
