The pioneers clearing dense jungle to set up camp Hemalkasa
In l974 younger son Prakash graduated from medical college along with his wife Mandakini and decided to settle and work permanently at Hemalkasa. They were joined by Babas adopted daughter Renuka and her husband Vilas Manohar. Villas came to participate in the youth camp at Somnath in 1974 and has been with the Anandwan family ever since. A prolific writer, he has written extensively on wildlife and tribal issues and has donated all the royalty from the sales of his books to Maharogi Sewa Samiti.
Many years of struggle with severe hardships shaped the emergence of this trail blazing project which today caters to nearly 40,000 patients a year, most of whom are tribals.
