For the last 10 years he has lived in a small hut on the banks of India's largest west flowing river Narmada, on land to be submerged following construction of a multi-million dollar dam downstream on the river. His has become the focal voice amongst those raising questions against an over-centralised paradigm of  development, which does not involve the people of the country in decisions   affecting their lives.
